Rob is specialised in rural infrastructure development and access planning with over 30 years of professional experience. He started his career as a hydrologist in a Dutch consulting firm in the Netherlands, and worked 5 years for the International Labour Organisation in Nepal and Malawi, after which he switched back to the private sector in infrastructure development across Africa and Asia.
For many years now, Rob has been at the forefront of rural access and local-level (transport) infrastructure development. He worked on assignments for international organisations and the private sector in over 25 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. As a technical implementer and as team leader, Rob has been involved in all stages of projects and programmes, aimed at the most effective use of local resources. Rob has specialised in infrastructure project and programme preparation, design and implementation support.
Key qualifications include planning, design and supervision of rural transport and access infrastructure, application of local resources, appropriate technology, and a mix of implementation and contracting methods. Expertise in various forms of procurement and contract documentation and administration, and a specialist in labour-based technology, competent in applied training of local contractors and institutional capacity building related to the above subjects;
Rob is familiar with project cycles and procedures and procurement of World Bank, ADB, DFAT, EU, UN, DFID, Danida, Sida, KfW, AFD.
Rob is the Founder and Managing Director of the company.
