Jürgen Peter

Mr. Jürgen Peter holds Masters Degrees in Geography, Tropical Water Resource Management and Applied Computing for Civil Engineering. He has worked for more than 20 years as hydrologist, design engineer, trainer, auditor and GIS expert in over 25 countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Caribbean. Jürgen joined OCA in 2020 as a shareholding Partner and is OCA's Director for Engineering Hydrology. Jürgen is based in Germany.
Over the last 20 years Jürgen has specialised in the field of hydrology for road drainage design, covering all types of roads from small rural tracks to international 8 lane highways. His field of specialisation includes hydro-meteorological analysis, hydrological modelling of un-gaged catchments, design discharge estimations and the hydraulic design of bridges, protection works, smaller drainage structures and drainage networks. Mr. Peter has also worked on the hydraulic design of railway bridges. Water related Climate Change risk assessments and adaptation design is a regular feauture in his work.
Apart from his design activities Jürgen has also worked as technical adviser and trainer in various positions. His TA experience ranges from advising national water authorities (Haiti, Madagascar) on data base technology and measurement network maintenance, to assessing climate change impact on national road networks (Cambodia, Tanzania, Laos). He has also worked on the formulation of the Drainage Masterplan for the city of Kinshasa. Mr. Peter has worked on the review of the national road drainage design manuals of Kenya, Sierra Leone, Cambodia and Laos.
Mr. Peter is an experienced user of a wide range of GIS applications, including mobile GIS and advanced hydraulic design software.
